Montreal-based consumer electronics distributor GB Micro Electronics has been appointed Canadian distributor smart home LED bulbs from BeeWi, a wireless technology company based in France.

BeeWi bulbs can be used locally or remotely to provide light in a room, controlled via the free SmartPad app, available for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. Connect via Bluetooth Low Energy (up to 30-50 metres away) or Internet from a smartphone or tablet to control the intensity or colour of the bulb (white and RGB). The application can also be programmed to gradually turn on in the early morning for a gentle awakening.

Groups of bulbs can also be created enabling simultaneous control (On/Off, colours).

The bulbs are controlled locally through a single SmartPad application that, naturally, will also handle other BeeWi connected accessories in the home.

The bulbs range in price for the Canadian market is from $35 up to $50 per bulb.

In addition to smart bulbs, BeeWi also offers programmable electrical outlets, and temperature and humidity sensors. The company's products are developed around three divisions: Connected Smart Toys, offering things like toy cars and helicopters; connected Smart Audio, like headphones and speakers, and Connected Smart Home.
